What you’ll need:
Yellow construction or card stock paper
Glitter
Glue
Cut star shapes out of yellow construction or card stock paper and add gold glitter. You can use either glitter pens, glitter glue or rub a glue stick on the star and sprinkle glitter onto the glue. You can then glue the stars to paper to make a star collage or punch a hole and string yarn or ribbon to make star ornaments.
Paper Plate Hand Wreath
What you’ll need:
Large paper plate
Green construction or card stock paper
Glue
Cut out the center of a paper plate. Trace hand on paper and cut out. Glue hand cut outs around the edge of the wreath.
The number of hand cut outs needed depends on how full you would like your wreath to be. Each family member can make their own wreath or you can add dimension to your wreath by gluing different size hand cut outs to the same wreath.
Paper Chains
Cut strips of red and green construction paper and decorate with glitter pens or Holiday Ink stamps like this set by Hero Arts.
Do not glue the strips of paper together; it’s messy and takes too long to dry plus most of the time the paper pops back open. For better results, staple the rings together.
Foam Shapes Crafts
This activity is easy, simple and non-messy and one the kids can do all by themselves. Buy some holiday foam shapes and keep on hand.
When you need to keep the kids occupied while you are wrapping, baking, cleaning, etc. pull out the foam shapes. Using red or green card stock, the kids can peel the backs off of the foam shapes and create their individualized holiday scene. Tada! They’ve done a craft and you can cross off something from your to-do list!
Reindeer Heads
What you’ll need:
Brown construction or card stock paper
Yellow construction or card stock paper
Wiggle eyes
Red pompom ball
Trace your child’s shoe (or if they are old enough, they can do it) on brown paper and cut out. Trace your child’s hands on yellow paper and cut out. Attach the hand cut outs to the toe end of the shoe cut out to form antlers. Glue on wiggle eyes and the pompom nose. Draw a mouth. If you make one every year, you will be able to save them as keepsakes and track your child’s growth.
