Winter Reading
Jan 20th, 2012 | By Wendy | Category: Family TimeWinter is a great time to catch up on all of your reading. What better way to spend these dark and cold winter evenings than reading to your children? A less hectic schedule allows for time for more than just a quick bedtime story; it’s a great time to share some classic stories with your children.
There are plenty of classics to read aloud to your children. And don’t let them fool you; older children still enjoy hearing books read aloud, too.
Snow by Uri Shulevitz is a 1999 Caldecott Honor Book. Let It Snow by Maryann Cocca-Leffler is a wonderful way to teach younger children about all the activities that can take place when it snows and it is cold outside. The children in the story experience all that winter has to offer. It’s a book that you won’t mind reading over and over and over. Is there anything better than a Max & Ruby book? Yes, a book that contains three Max & Ruby stories! How about Snow Bunny Tales. You will love the winter adventures of this brother and sister duo. In The Biggest Snowman Ever by Steven Kroll, Clayton and Desmond take on a winter time challenge. Fans of these two mice will not be disappointed as once again they find out that teamwork and friendship go hand in hand.
