Mother’s Day
May 7th, 2012 | By Wendy | Category: Family Time, Featured ArticlesIt’s a simple concept, a day to celebrate moms, right? Well not always; sometimes a mom’s idea of celebration isn’t the same idea as her husband’s and children’s. Remember last year? Did you want to sleep in only to be awakened extra early by everyone trooping into you room with a breakfast tray full of food you don’t even like? If you want something simple, it’s fine to let your family know that you’re not expecting nor do you want anything grand. Some of the best family times are simple experiences like a family trip to the park, some quiet time for mom to read; followed by a family dinner. Most of the time it doesn’t even matter what is on the menu for dinner – as long as mom didn’t have to cook it!
It doesn’t usually take young children long to understand holidays like Christmas or their birthday. But holidays that honor people in their lives take a bit longer to appreciate. Grab a book or two about Mother’s Day and sit down to read. By the time you’ve finished reading, you’ll both realize it’s not the fancy stuff that’s important, it’s being together that counts the most!
