National Pancake Day!

Tuesday, February 5th is National Pancake Day! In 2006 International House of Pancakes held its first National Pancake Day. In exchange for giving away free pancakes, they ask for a donation for charity. In the past 6 years they have raised 10 million dollars. This year the money donated will be given to The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (or other designated local charities). What an easy (and yummy) way to give to those in need. If you don’t have an IHOP near you or you feel like staying home, you can still celebrate by mailing a donation to The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and making your own pancake dinner at home. National Pancake Day is a great excuse to eat breakfast for dinner. Making a pancake dinner is also a time saving, money saving idea. Add scrambled eggs and fruit salad and you have a well-balanced meal that your kids will love. Wondering what to do with the extra time that you have now that you didn’t spend hours in the kitchen? Curl up with your family and read some good books. The cold dark days of February are perfect for family reading time.
